EL PUERTORICAN EMBASSY was founded by the late director and playwright, Eduardo Figueroa, as a virtual home for a "Spirit Republic of Puerto Rico" that would embrace Puerto Ricans everywhere on the planet. Its mission statement, El Puertorican Embassy Manifesto, authored by the late poet and playwright, Pedro Pietri, proposes to implement a series of cultural and artistic outreach projects to record, to tell and to teach the living history of our origins, identity, struggles and our ways to all citizens of the Spirit Republic of the Mind on Planet Earth.
Taller Boricua / The Puerto Rican Workshop is a 40-year old artist-run nonprofit art gallery and multidisciplinary cultural space in El Barrio. Our mission is to be a proactive institution for the community in East Harlem by offering programs that stimulate its social, cultural and economic development through the promotion of the arts.
RIP Pedro Pietri
